2011 was the year that I decided I was going to make all of my gifts. It started with the wedding portraits, for which Cortney & Chris were the inspiration. We had attended their wedding in October of 2010, and when May came around and we still hadn't gotten them a wedding gift (or Caitlin & Mathew and Andrea & Stephen), we set out on a mission to get it done. We knew it had to be something unique and AWESOME, and so, the embroidered wedding portrait was born. Once theirs was completed, we knew that the portraits would have to be the gift for every wedding we attended. I couldn't have anticipated how popular they'd be, but I've got about seven commissions lined up, four wedding gifts, and a special portrait for Melanie Blodgett of You Are My Fave as a THANK YOU for being the first to feature my work. I'm going to take this opportunity to thank all of you who are waiting so patiently for me to get to it: THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE! I'm excited to finally get back to them and get them done now that the holiday season is over.
So for my mother's birthday in December, I decided to do something special to show her how much I love her. And what better way than with hand embroidered letters, inspired by doilies, that spell out love, right?

Hi Michelle! I had to comment on this beautiful piece - I can imagine your mom's face when she opened it. I hope you remember me from the many Sallie Mae gatherings your mom has hosted over the years. This is going to be an exciting year for you - so happy about your engagement and wedding plans!!!!
